The AM12 is TEXA's cable for Steyr marine engines. It plugs into the 3902358 marine main cable (AM01), and from there IDC5 MARINE reads the engine controller for faults, live parameters and the available service functions. The main cable carries the power feed, so this adapter stays short and simple. For Steyr SE model engines, TEXA supplies the separate AM42 adapter cable.
