Pulling a dent out from the outside saves the time of getting behind the panel, and it keeps the corrosion protection on the inside intact. This category covers the main methods body shops use: stud and ring welding on steel, capacitor-discharge studs on aluminum, glue pulling, and vacuum pulling with the GYS AirFix Draw Aligner.
Most of the range is GYS: the GYSPOT Alu Pro stud welder, multihook gripping heads, leveling and scissoring bars, mini pullers, slide hammers, glue sticks and tab lifters, and the studs, rings and washers you go through every day. We also carry ITS aluminum weld studs that are compatible with the Pro Spot AL-5 and the GYS Alu Pro.
Steel or aluminum?
Steel panels take welded rings, washers, studs and wiggle wire. Aluminum needs capacitor-discharge studs (M4, M5, M6) and an aluminum stud welder.
Size of the dent
Small dings come out with a slide hammer or glue tabs. Long creases come out with a leveling bar and multihook head pulling evenly along the line.
Finish matters
Glue pulling doesn't touch the paint. Stud and ring methods need the area taken to bare metal and refinished.

Pulling posts and trolleys like the AirFix give you a steady, controlled pull without anchoring to the floor.
Can I use steel pulling rings on aluminum?
No. Aluminum needs aluminum studs welded with a capacitor-discharge stud welder. Steel consumables don't bond to aluminum.
What do I need to start glue pulling?
A glue gun, glue sticks, tabs or multipads, and a lifter or slide hammer. GYS sells these as a kit or one piece at a time.
Which stud size do I need?
Check your aluminum stud welder's chuck: the Alu Pro takes M4, M5 and M6 studs with the matching holder.
