The connection base is the brass joint where the clamp arm bolts onto the G Gun body, and it's a high-current contact point — every amp of weld current passes through it. Repeated clamping and heat cycling pit and wear the brass over time, and a worn base shows up as inconsistent nugget quality or a hot connection point during long runs. Swapping the base restores a clean, low-resistance connection without replacing the whole arm.
